April 2007

You have to read this by Mark Driscoll! It will encourage you greatly!

What a great day we had today! Our first Sunday meeting as a new community of believers was very God exalting and Christ honoring. We began our look at the book of Acts with a study on Acts 1:1-8. We learned that the power in verse eight is described by five words: definite, dynamic, declaring, discipling, and divine. I was so glad to see the living room so full of people desiring to hear from God in His Word! I look forward to next week. I pray that God will give you opportunity this week to tell many people about Jesus!

1 Corinthians 16:9 “for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. “

I have no doubt that God has big plans for reaching Charlotte with the gospel of Jesus Christ through Enjoying God Fellowship. Like with Paul, a wide door for effective work has been opened for us. But…that’s right, there’s a but. Whenever a wide door for ministry is opened by the Lord, you better believe that it won’t be the Filled-With-The-Spirit Club welcoming you on the other side of the door. It will be enemies of the cross. Sadly, more times than not these adversaries wear the name “Christian.” Do not be discouraged when we face various trials, it’s all part of the plan!

Acts 1:1-8 In the first book, O Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began to do and teach, 2 until the day when he was taken up, after he had given commands through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom he had chosen. 3 To them he presented himself alive after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. 4 And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

On Sunday, April 22nd, we will begin our study together on the book of Acts. I can’t tell you how excited that I am to begin teaching the Word of God to you on a weekly basis. In Acts 1:8 we will be looking at our vision for church planting which includes planting a new church every three years! Yes, this is a HUGE dream but I believe that our Lord is all about planting new churches here in Charlotte (our Jerusalem), in Judea (North and South Carolina), in Samaria (North America), and to the ends of the earth (international). My prayer is the God will light a fire in your soul as He has in mine to see New Testament communities pop up all over the world through the ministry of Enjoying God Fellowship. Our mission is to bring people into the true worship of the living God through His Son Jesus Christ. I’m so pumped. I hope you are, too!

Our first home meeting will be on Sunday, April 22nd. We will meet for our first worship together as a community. Our time will start at 9:30 AM. We will spend the first hour in some strategic planning and the second hour will be totally committed to worship. Worship time will conclude by our sharing our first Lord’s Supper together. We will share a meal together following our worship. God is going to do great things through all of us!
